Thirteen-year-old Tyler and his twelve-year old-sister, Cat, are in big trouble: at home, at school, and with the law. The verdict is in and they hate it: a year living in the mountains of eastern Oregon in a log house in the wilderness.

Busted and Banished - Tyler and his sister Caitlin think being suspended from school for violating rules is no big deal . . . until a friend rats Ty out about a serious incident of vandalism and the police show up at the Clarks' front door. The worst is yet to come. Ty and Cat's parents yank them out of their comfortable home and move to the wilds of eastern Oregon. No electricity. No running water. No TV, Facebook, Twitter, or iPods. Just months of hard work, homeschooling, scary noises in the night, and no one else for miles around. Storms rage inside and outside the isolated cabin. Will the need to survive the threat of tragedy reunite the broken family? Based on a true story.

"Wilderness Warriors by Colleen Reece, is an intense story of self-discovery and sticking to your values, even when it means deep sacrifices. This is a good book for any family struggling with problem teens, drifting away from their faith, and losing family closeness. Itís especially moving because itís based on a true story. This story completely gripped me Ė I read it in one sitting. The parents help their family get back on track with God. Their kids learn what's truly meaningful in life. It's a good book to show teens the love of family, the importance of truth telling, and the impact of decisions. It shows why developing strong personal values are vitally necessary for a solid foundation in life. If you loved Brianís Saga: Hatchet, The River, Brianís Winter, Brianís Return, and Brianís Hunt by Gary Paulsen, you will enjoy this story. I highly recommend it."

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great True Life Adventure Story Byrenee Rivaon June 27, 2017
I began reading this book during a storm, which was the perfect setting for this story. When an at risk family decides to pack it all up and move to the wilderness for the sake of holding their family and faith together, their life becomes a true storm. Two teens caught up in the current culture are not happy about living in a remote cabin with no cell phones or computers. But given a chance to prove themselves in real life survival brings out the best in them, and their family is redeemed. I loved that this was based on a real family who had the guts to do it. And I loved that it ended well. By the time I finished, the storm had passed and the sun was shining again--just like the story.
